Tis the Season for the annual Old Dominion Aquatic Club Training Camp. Training Camp is a prestigious and time-honored tradition that has challenged and inspired ODAC senior swimmers for over 30 years. Known for its rigorous and comprehensive approach, this camp pushes athletes to the limits of their mental, emotional, and physical capacities, instilling resilience, discipline, and a growth-oriented mindset. This experience has become a rite of passage within ODAC, cementing a legacy that reflects our commitment to developing well-rounded athletes prepared for the competitive demands of high-level swimming. This year's training camp is taking place in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University.

Life skills acquired through ODAC’s training camps extend far beyond the pool. Swimmers learn time management by balancing rigorous training schedules with other commitments. They develop resilience and adaptability, which are essential for overcoming life's inevitable obstacles. Moreover, swimming fosters a sense of accountability, as athletes must take responsibility for their progress and setbacks, understanding that personal effort directly impacts outcomes. This accountability nurtures a strong work ethic and self-discipline, invaluable in all areas of life.
The coaching staff began their camp by issuing action figures as part of their
accountability process. These dolls must be with them at all times...anywhere and everywhere, they go.

On a training note, the first of several suited test sets begin Sunday afternoon. The kids are grinding. I see the expressions on their faces. As the coaches have expressed...
"It's not how fast, but how technically sound you are. No matter how fast you think you are, you will never reach your best if you don't do the work correctly"
Here's a few more shots from Day 1 grinding. Follow along for more as this weeks training camp unwinds. Drop us some comments if you've been to a training camp and one of your most rewarding experiences from it.
