Old Dominion Aquatic Club is thrilled to announce that 18-year-old Gabe Nunziata has secured a position on Team USA for the upcoming Junior World Championships in August 19-24 in Otopeni, Romania. This achievement comes after a standout performance at the 2025 USA Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana this past weekend. Gabe clinched third place in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:09.71. This remarkable swim not only earned him a spot on the national team but also ranks him as the second-fastest 17–18-year-old male swimmer in USA Swimming history.


Weekend Recap: A Series of Personal Bests

Gabe's impressive performances didn't stop at the 200 breaststroke. Throughout the weekend, he showcased his versatility and determination across multiple events:


Tuesday

100 Meter Free - Gabe started the meet off with this bonus event where he placed 52nd and slashed 2.20 seconds off his personal best locking in a new Junior Nationals Time Cut with a 51.11.

Wednesday

200 Meter Breaststroke - Entering prelims seeded 5th, Gabe delivered an extraordinary swim to take 2nd place with a 2:10.22. Later in finals that evening, he stepped up even more, dropping more time to finish with 2:09.71—earning a spot on the podium and bringing home the bronze medal.



Thursday

400 Meter Individual Medley - Demonstrated his endurance and skill, Gabe improved 1.39 seconds from his personal best placing 21st and qualifying for finals.


50 Meter Breaststroke - Gabe posted a time improvement of .61 in prelims and qualified for finals where he took 15th place overall.


Friday

100 Meter Breaststroke - While he didn’t match his personal best of 1:00.36, Gabe still made it into the A final seeded 8th. He held his own in a competitive field, finishing 7th overall with a time of 1:00.86.


Saturday

200 Meter Individual Medley - Gabe delivered a strong performance in the 200 IM in prelims securing a spot in the finals and a new Olympic Trials Time Cut, finishing with even more time improvement, 2.44 for the day and 25th overall.


Each of these swims contributed to his overall success at the meet and underscored his status as one of the nation's top young swimmers.
